My Journey from Childhood to becoming an Independent
Insurance Broker: A story of Perseverance and Purpose.

In my childhood memory, I had always an imprint in my heart
of losing my Dear Mother at such a young age. I always envied having my mom to
walk beside me and watch her eyes glitter with pride as I received awards from
Elementary, High School and University.

I didn’t quite understand then, but now I do, that losing
her will always be a part of me. This is what made me who I am today.

I became competitive at school, and awards made me
fulfilled. My Dad became my hero and inspiration; he became both my mom and Dad
growing up.

I started my journey with many obstacles and failed numerous
times in achieving my goals. From starting a loving family of my own, living
paycheck to paycheck, drowning in debt, and it seemed like there was no way
out.

Having a full time-job didn’t help us much, but it did keep
us from living on day-to- day expenses without a penny in our pocket every
month.

We lived this way until our family became four. When we were
blessed to have two children, this is when my husband and I realized that we
couldn’t both have full time jobs because one of us had to stay home, as
daycare expenses for both our kids were out of the question.

We couldn’t afford it. So, this is where our transition
began, from being employees to becoming self-employed. It was the hardest and
scariest, but the best decision we’ve ever made.

My husband decided to become self-employed, and I chose to
study and get my license as an independent life Insurance agent. With no experience
in finance, I thought this might be the worst choice I’d ever made., but my gut
told me and I felt it in my bones, that this was the only way I could watch my
kids grow every step of the way, having a career with time freedom and
financial independence.

I started in 2017 and got my license the same year. The
training was intense because everything had to be done in person at that time.
I had to take my kids with me every time I had to attend training at our
office. There were some nights when I came home with tears, having my kids
asleep in the backseat from late nights of training. But, without knowledge in
finance, I must do what I must do to learn from the bottom up and pick myself
up slowly.

Quitting was the noise that echoed in my head, facing numerous
obstacles and setbacks, I persevered, determined to build and pick myself up especially
when my kids widest smile, laugh, play with contentment and I was able to watch
them. I felt very fortunate as a mom and blessed to have a choice to do that.

You see, making changes in life is not about how difficult
the journey is, but about pulling yourself up every time you fall. It’s not
about how much you make, but rather what it will make of you as a person.

Today, I am proud to be an independent licensed agent,
serving my clients with integrity and compassion.
